Abstract

A power semi-conductor device comprises a planar semi-conductor element 1 between a base electrode 2 and a second electrode 5 forming the upper part of the casing, the two electrodes having fins 6 for cooling and being interconnected by insulating cylindrical member 9 attached resiliently (such as by flange 7) to one of the electrodes and the base electrode 2 carries a sleeve 10 with insulated guide 11 which slidably encompasses a cylindrical portion 4 of the second electrode; thus axial relative movement between the electrodes is possible. In a second embodiment, pressure contact between the second electrode and the semi-conductor is provided by a plate spring (14, Fig. 2, not shown), and a third control electrode to the semi-conductor is provided by two cylinders (18 and 17) connected by spring (19) positioned in a central cavity in the second electrode.
