1,146,607. Supporting anodes of an electrolysis cell. PECHINEY COMPAGNIE DE PRODUITS CHIMIQUES ET ELECTROMETALLURGIQUES. April 7, 1966 [April 9, 1965], No.15620/66. Heading C7B. A superstructure, for supporting the anodes of an electrolysis cell, (e.g. a cell of the fused electrolyte type) comprises (a) at least two posts 101 each fixed on an electrolysis tank 10 by means of an articulated joint 110 and an electrically insulating joint, (b) a girder 200 supported on the posts by means of a height-adjusting mechanism, (c) a movable cross-beam 300 suspended from the girder by means of linkages movable by a jack 310 to give vertical movement to the crossmember, and (d) connecting members 341 fixed to the cross-beam 300 and capable of connecting thereto rods 351 which are fast with the anodic system, e.g. pre-baked anodes 352 or Soderberg anodes. Figs.4 and 7 (not shown) illustrate an articulated joint (110) comprising a pivot pin (113) and insulation (117, 118, 119) between the joint and the tank. Figs.5 and 6 (not shown) illustrates a bolt (235) at the top of a post for adjusting the height of the girder (200). During its vertical movement, the cross-beam (300) is guided by means (331,333) Figs.2 and 3 (not shown). Instead of moving the cross-beam by a jack and linkages, it may be moved by cable or chain winches.
