Abstract

[Also in Division H2] The output of a synchronous generator 1, used to measure the speed of a shaft to which it is connected, is rectified by a bridge 2 which feeds a Zener diode 3 and capacitor 4 in series across a load resistor 5. The generator is preferably three phase as shown, and an output device 6 connected across the resistor 5 is an indicator, or a controlling arrangement for either the speed of the shaft or some other apparatus. The Zener diode and capacitor provide a ripple voltage sufficient, for example, for synchronizing a controlled circuit at 6, while limiting the amplitude of this ripple at increasing speeds.
