Abstract
1403268 Measuring angular velocity electrically ROBERT BOSCH G.m.b.H. 13 Oct 1972 [14 Oct 1971] 47232/72 Heading GIN The angular velocity of the crank-shaft of an I.C. engine is determined by the frequency of the pulses induced in a sensor 12, Fig. 1, located near the teeth 11 of the starter ring gear 10. The sensor has a number of coil units 13-16, Fig. 2, progressively displaced relative to the teeth 11 and connected in series to produce one train of pulses. Two further pulse trains are obtained directly from the crank-shaft, with each pulse extending over one half revolution and the pulse trains displaced by 90 degrees, whereby the four quadrants of the crank-shaft rotation are identifiable.
