Abstract
PURPOSE: To accomplish clear discrimination of engine conditions, good or bad, at a glance while reducing the engine regulation time by precisely measuring the rotational speed variations in the engine each time each cylinder is ignited.
CONSTITUTION: The signal whose frequency is proportional to the rotational speed of the engine is shaped in the waveform with a Schmitt circuit 12 and the frequency of the signal is converted to voltage with an F-V converter 14 to produce the output A. The DC component of the output is removed and the high frequency spike and low frequency undulation thereof are removed to produce the output signal B. On the other hand, the point signals generated by each ignition of the cylinders is divided in the voltage and shaped in the waveform by circuit 20 to form a pulse signal C. A monostable multivibrators 22 and 24 generate the output pulses D and E according to the rising and the tailing of the output pulse of the circuit 20. A sample hold circuit 26 sample holds the output signals according to the pulse D and then, the output is inverted to yield the output signal F. Likewise, the sample hold circuit 28 produces the output signal G. The difference between the signals F and G serves as a signal for indicating the variation in the engine rotation.
