Abstract

1,145,616. Reactors. MASCHINENFABRIK OERLIKON. 19 May, 1967 [24 May, 1966], No. 23352/67. Heading H1T. In the iron core of, e.g. a choke coil having yokes 1, 3 comprising sheet iron stampings and a plurality of core legs 5 (only one shown), built up from stacks of sheet iron stampings 7, the stacks being separated by insulation 9, which may be of fibreglass synthetic resin plates, at least one yoke 1 comprises a plurality of yoke portions 19, 21, 23, interconnected in pairs and the yoke portions are resiliently compressed against the core legs. The interleaved stampings define air gaps 22, 24 (Fig. 5) and each of the yoke portions 19, 21, 23 is bounded by thicker outer stampings 25, 27, 29. A plate 31, 33 bridges the gap between interleaved portions 19, 21 and 21, 23 respectively and is clamped by bolts 39, nuts 45, spring washers 47 and insulation 43, 41. Each yoke portion is forced on to its associated core leg by rods 71 which carry nuts 77 and spring washers 85 which when screwed up compress bearers 60, 79 bearing on the yoke portions. The insulation 9 may be bonded with epoxy resin to the stacks of stampings. The choke may be a 3-phase device.
