Abstract

1,144,639. Making garments. HALL TEXTILES (MANSFIELD) Ltd. 1 Nov., 1967 [4 Aug., 1966], No. 34891/66. Heading A3V. [Also in Division D1] Apparatus for use in the examining and turning of garments comprises two substantially vertical translucent tubes 7 which carry fluorescent lights 9 and transparent or translucent covers 8 and are connected at their lower ends via conduits 15, 16 to a source of suction. Each tube is mounted in a carrier 12 slidable along rails 13 on a platform 1 which is supported by a plate 2 rotatably mounted on bearings 4. The tubes are adjustable relative to each other by means of links 23 each pivoted to a carrier 12 and to a common link 24. Rotary movement of a lever 26 fixed to the link 24 moves the tubes towards or away from each other. The lever may be locked in its adjusted position. In use, a garment e.g. a vest is drawn over the tubes which are so spaced that the vest is distended. The platform is manually rotated and the illuminated garment examined. If the garment is inside out suction is then applied to the tubes 7 which draws adjacent parts of the garment into the open upper ends of the tubes and holds them whilst the garment is turned inside out as it is drawn off the tubes.
