A wall covering material comprises a heat and sound insulating layer of foam natural rubber 5, an outer layer 3 of decorative and protective material such as paper or textile bonded to one side of the insulating layer and a protective film 12 such as silicone paper removably secured to the other side of the insulating layer by a non-hardening, selfadhesive substance. The wall covering material is made by joining a web of the layer 3 with a web of the layer 5 using adhesive ejected by nozzles 7, the webs being united over roller 6, a roller 8 applying the non-hardening adhesive prior to application of the protective film.
