Abstract

1,143,513. Electric incandescent lamps. PHILIPS ELECTRONIC & ASSOCIATED INDUSTRIES Ltd. 31 May, 1967 [3 June, 1966], No. 25125/67. Heading H1F. The filament 1 of an electric incandescent lamp is shielded by a screen 4 composed of wire 7 helically wound on a pair of stay wires 5, 6, each turn of the helix being individually secured to the stay wires and the screen being supported by one of the lead-in conductors 3 of the filament. The screen wire may be made of molybdenum or tantalum having a diameter of 40 Á- 100 Á, and the turns of the helix are preferably bent away from one another to form a bulbshaped configuration around the filament. The screen has the object of minimizing the blackening of the interior of the lamp bulb due to deposition of material evaporated from the filament.
