Abstract
1,142,890. Pipe joints. COMMISSARIAT A L'ENERGIE ATOMIQUE. 1 Sept., 1966 [3 Sept., 1965], No. 39043/66. Heading F2G. [Also in Division G6] In a nuclear reactor tank of the " pressure tube " type, the pressure tubes 10a, 10b pass through thin diaphragms (not shown) closing the ends of the tank and through resistant structures formed by hollow beams 38a, 38b, being supported by the cylinders formed by half-bushings in the adjacent surfaces of the beams. In one embodiment, assembly is effected by pressing a conical washer 44, in two parts, to a likewise conical thrust-bearing 44<SP>1</SP> rigidly connected to the tube 10a. In another embodiment, thrust-bearings 36, 40 are attached to the tube 10b on either side of the structure but at a distance apart greater than the thickness of the structure so that a longitudinal clearance is provided between them and the structure. A hollow spring-steel washer 42 disposed between the thrust-bearing 36 and the structure compensates for this clearance, and the assembly is completed by a shockabsorbing element 43 which is positioned between the thrust-bearing 40 and the structure.
