Abstract
Fuel rods are spaced between first and second connecting plates. A nose-piece near the second plate has a control device which is near to but separable from the second plate. The nose-piece intercepts a stream of coolant, and the open end of a tubular flow channel surrounds the assembly to direct the coolant past the fuel rods. The adjacent end of the flow channel is connected to the nose-piece to prevent the channel from bending away from the nose-piece, thus limiting coolant leakage between the two.
