Abstract
1,142,845. Detergent metal cleaner. EDWARD CURRAN ENG. Ltd. 21 March, 1966 [23 Dec.. 1964], No. 52254/64. Heading C5D. [Also in Division C7] Ferrous metal is cleaned by treating with a solution having the following volume composition Solution of phosphoric acid in water 75-92 % Petroleum distillate .. .. 5-15% Non-ionic detergent .... 2-8% Petroleum sulphonate .... . 1-2% The petroleum distillate has a S.G. of 0À9-0À92, Redwood viscosity of 100-30 seconds and a flashpoint of 160-170‹ F. The non-ionic detergent comprises nonylphenol condensed with 9-ethylene oxide, and the petroleum sulphonate is an alkaline calcium sulphonate. The solution may also contain 0À1-1% volume of an inhibitor which comprises an aqueous solution of complex thio compounds and a heterocyclic nitrogenous base.
