Abstract

1,142,843. Lamp holders associated with switches. LINOLITE Ltd. 2 March, 1966 [2 Dec., 1964], No. 49063/64. Heading H2E. One end of a tubular lamp is held in position by a movable end cap 16 which carries contact 14 for engaging the end of the tube. The contact 14 has an extension 64 the free end of which forms a switch contact, the other contact of the switch being formed by a bar 10 which may be raised or lowered by means of a camming surface 28 operated by a pull-cord 48. The free ends of the two switch contacts are bent over so that in the closed position of the switch, i.e. bar 60, raised, the end cap cannot be removed to take the tube from the assembly; and consequently no live parts are exposed. In an alternative construction the contact 14 is not connected to the movable end cap but is moved to an inoperative position, when the lamp is removed, by the arrangement described in Specification 1,142,844.
