Abstract

114,279. Gronroos, H. Nov. 6, 1917. Moulds.-The object is to mould an artificial stone block, such as that shown in Fig. 1, with vertical through passages a, b, c, horizontal passages d from the ends meeting the passages a, c and also b if desired, and vertical depressions c in the ends, which, when the blocks are put together, form vertical passages between the blocks. The bottom plate 1 of the mould rests upon a suitable frame 4 provided with a removable sliding plate 5 which supports the usual vertical cores 6, 7, 8, for producing the vertical passages in the block. Above the bottom plate 1 is a loose plate 9 on which the block is moulded. The side plates 2 are loose, and the ends 3 are hinged to the base and are provided with ribs or cleats 13, 14 for engaging with and holding vertically the sides 2 when the ends are closed. The ends are held closed by suitable clamps 15. For producing the horizontal passages d and depressions e, the ends 3 of the mould are pierced with apertures into which may be inserted cores 10, 11, to meet the cores 6, 8, and with central projections 12 for producing the depressions c in the block. These projections and the ends 3 may be pierced for the insertion of cores winch extend to the central core 7. The horizontal cores are so mounted on the ends of the mould as to be removable without removing the ends. The mortar &c, having been filled into the mould, the plate 5 is removed. and the cores 6. 7, S supported thereon withdrawn vertically, the horizontal cores are then withdrawn, the clamps 15 removed. and the ends 3 turned on their hinges into the horizontal position. when the loose. sides 2 may be removed and the block left standing on the plate 9 on which it may be removed to any place desired. The plate 5 may be arranged to move vertically, and the ends 3, instead of being hinged, may be arranged to move parallel to themselves, and both these and the plate 5 may be operated by levers and suitable gearing.
