Polysulphide rubbers are plasticized with compounds of formula R<SP>1</SP>X-(R<SP>2</SP>X) n -R<SP>3</SP> where R<SP>1</SP> and R<SP>3</SP> are alkyl groups, alkylcarboxyalkylene groups, aryl groups or carboxylic acyl groups, R<SP>2</SP> is an alkylene or arylene group, X is an oxygen or sulphur atom and n is an integer. Plasticizers specified are tetraethylene glycoldibutyl ether, bis-(phenoxy)-diethyl formal, bis- (methoxymethyl) - diphenyl ether, triethyleneglycol - bis - (2 - ethyl - caproate), triethyleneglycol - dimethacrylate, diethyleneglycol. monobutylether - 2 - ethyl - hexoate, methylenebis - (mercapto - isooctyl - acetate), thiodiethyleneglycoldiphenyl ether, methylene - bis- (mercapto - butyl - acetate), thiodiethyleneglycol - dicyclohexyl ether, diethylene - glycol monobutyl ether acetate and triethylene glycolbis-diethyl caproate. Examples are given, the compositions also containing phenol-formaldehyde resin, sulphur, stearic acid, titanium dioxide, chalk, bentonite and dibutyl phthalate.
