Abstract

1,142,273. Moulding tyres. KYOWA RUBBER INDUSTRY CO. Ltd. 14 June, 1967 [17 June, 1966], No. 27543/67. Heading B5A. [Also in Division B7] A method of producing a tyre with a decorative side wall pattern comprises preparing a green tyre having a side wall including a first rubber layer of a first colour, a second rubber layer of a second colour and an uppermost side wall surface layer, said first and second colours being different from each other and in colour contrast to the side wall surface layer, moulding and vulcanizing the green tyre in a mould having a side wall area provided with at least two recesses of desired pattern and having different depths so that the side wall rubber flows into the recesses to form projections of different heights, removing the vulcanized and moulded tyre from the mould, and thereafter buffing off or otherwise removing the tops of the projections so as to expose a first pattern section of the first colour with a frame of the second colour at the higher projection area and a second pattern section only of the second colour at the lower projection area.
