Abstract
1,142,113. Colour television tubes. MOTOROLA Inc. 27 April, 1967 [8 Aug., 1966], No. 19428/67. Heading H1D. A shadow-mask colour television tube has an internal magnetic shield 30 extending from the shadow-mask frame 40 to the vicinity of the deflection yoke. The shield serves also to eliminate stray electrons and to reduce X-ray radiation from the shadow-mask assembly 27. The shield may be of annealed cold rolled steel blackened to absorb heat from the shadowmask. A pocket formed at 37 traps secondary electrons generated by the beam slightly overscanning the entrance aperture of the shadowmask frame. The shield may also serve as the tube anode in place of the usual graphite coating.
