Abstract
1,141,822. Glass manufacture. GLAVERBEL. 3 May, 1966 [5 May, 1965], No. 19509/66. Heading C1M. In the manufacture of flat glass during which it is supported on a bath of molten metal in a vessel through which a stream of neutral gas is passed, entry of embient air through the various openings is prevented by discharging one or more streams of gas, preferably air or steam, in a direction away from the opening so as to cause a flow of the neutral gas from the opening. Pipes 13, having orifices 15 are carried by a frame 16 pivotally mounted so as to swing out of the way to permit access to the interior of the vessel, are supported adjacent the discharge or other opening and are supplied with air or steam under pressure. A number of further constructions are disclosed.
