Ball bearings.-A cage ring for radial ball bearings, particularly of the kind in which one of the race surfaces is spherical and two rows of balls are employed, comprises a ring 1 formed on each side with open cylindrical pockets 2, the axes 6 of which are inclined to the axis of the bearing and lie on the surface of a cone or an hyperboloid. The lines 6 pass through the centres 7 of the balls. A circle passing through the outer corners a, b, Fig. 4, of a pocket 2 and a point c on the shoulder of the inner race is smaller than a great circle of the ball 5, and the ball is consequently retained in the cage when the outer race is removed.
