[Also in Divisions A1 and F2] A vehicle for use in laying and recovering pipelines comprises an open frame 1 with on each side wheel-carrying legs 7, 8 and load supports including inwardly extending opposed pairs of horizontal support bars 10g 10d and 13g, 13d with gaps between the pairs through which pipes 15 may be lowered. The vehicle also includes a motor M, a stirrup-shaped frame member 12 which is pivotable about pivots G, D by cable 18, and pipe support rollers 16, 17 mounted for vertical adjustment on members 16a, 17a which are pivotable about a vertical axis so that the sides of the rollers face one or other side of the vehicle. The vehicle is steered by a dependent steering wheel by a driver seated or standing on platform P. When laying a pipeline a pipe is lowered on to rollers 16, 17 from the support bars, rolled backwards on roller 17 and connected to a water supply, a second pipe is lowered on to roller 16 and rolled into contact with and connected to the first pipe and the vehicle moved forward until the free end of the second pipe is on roller 17 and the operation with the second pipe repeated. In a development (Figs. 4, 5, not shown) the vehicle carries a rotary sprinkler bar 24 supplied with water by a pump driven by motor M and provided with a flexible pipe 26 connectible with the pipeline. In a modification racks with bayonet type connections are provided for fitting within and outside the frame.
