Abstract

1,141,109. Laminated shoe stiffener. FOSS MFG. CO. Inc. 9 June, 1967 [9 June, 1966], No. 26808/67. Heading B5N. [Also in Division A3] A laminate suitable for the manufacture of shoe stiffeners consists of a central layer 16a of polyethylene, two intermediate layers 14a, 18a of a copolymer of ethylene and an acrylic acid and two outer layers 12a, 20a of fabric, paper, fibre, leather or foam rubber. The layers may be bonded together by passing them around heated drums 28 and unheated drums 30, the thermoplastic copolymer layers 14a, 18a bonding the layers together.
