Abstract

Actuating by electric motors; regulating delivery.-In a hydraulic press the pump E, Fig. 1, is driven through reducing gearing F, G or electrically from an electric motor J, the shaft of which is provided with a flycheel H. During the pauses of the press, the pump is prevented from delivering water to the press by opening a valve S, by holding open either the suction valve a or the delivery valve r, by keeping the valve a closed, by uncoupling the motor by means of a clutch L or M, or by controlling on the Ward-Leonard system an electric motor driving the pump. In a modification a continuous current motor J, Fig. 3, is caused to work as a driving motor during the pauses of the press and as a generator during the movement of the press, and is connected with a motor M<1> driving the pump.
