Abstract

1,139,633. Rolling. DEMAG A.G. 11 May, 1966 [18 May, 1965], No. 20848/66. Heading B3M. [Also in Division C7] Hot rolled plate, slabs, or billets are cooled in two stages by initially slowly cooling them in air on a conventional cooling bed to a temperature just below a critical point, e.g. the Ar3 or Ar2 on the recalescence curve, and then cooling them rapidly in a liquid bath. Rolled material 5 is shifted by a conveyer 6 from a roller table 2, leading from the cooling bed, through a bath 4, and on to a further roller table 7 or into a trough 8. The material may alternatively be moved from the table 2 by a reciprocating mechanical or fluid pressure drive on to a shoot leading into the bath. An upwardly inclined conveyer receives the material and discharges into an exit shoot.
