Abstract

1,139,445. Yarns. DEUTSCHE RHODIACETA A.G. 7 April, 1966 [7 April, 1965], No. 15470/66. Headings D1F and D1W. Successive lengths of alternate twist are imparted to a yarn particularly a multi-filament yarn by passing it through a twist producing device 3 operating at a constant speed and direction and alternately lengthening and shortening the length of yarn passing towards the twist producing member, thus the upstream yarn is alternatively left with an excess or deficiency of twist and this remains in the yarn to produce real twist in the delivered yarn which is wound up at a package 4. The lengthening and shortening of the yarn is effected by providing two twist barriers 1, 2 and intermittently operating the one closest to the twist producing member or by having a single twist barrier which is moved back and forth along the yarn.
