[Also in Division C7] Mercury, for making dental amalgams, is encapsulated by dropping it into an aqueous agitated solution containing gelatine, gumarabic and copolymers of ethylene and maleic anhydride to give capsules up to 400 microns in diameter and less than 10 microns thick of a gum-arabic gelatine complex surrounding the mercury. Other encapsulating materials referred to are gelatine-carrageenan complexes, phased out succinylated gelatines or ethyl cellulose.
