Abstract
1,138,326. Non-refillable bottles &c. ALLUMINIO MAUCERI BORGHETTO S.p.A. 25 April, 1966 [30 April, 1965], No. 18049/66. Heading B8D. A valve member 8 of a stopper adapted to prevent re-filling of a bottle &c. is screwed on to a stud 10 on a cap 1, the threading being in the reverse sense to that by which the cap 1 is attached to a body 2 rigidly attached to the bottle &c. (not shown). Thus when the cap 1 is unscrewed from the body 2 the valve member 8 initially remains joined to the stud 10, and is lifted from an aperture in a gasket 3, overcoming any tendency for the valve to stick in the closed position. The threading between the stud 10 and valve member 8 is relatively steeply pitched, so that during further unscrewing of the cap from the body 2 the weight of the valve member 8 causes it to rotate faster than the cap 1 and unscrew from the stud 10. The cap 1 may thus be completely removed, permitting pouring of the container contents. A disc 5, attached to the body 2 by ribs 4, prevents the complete disengagement of the valve member 8 from the body 2, thereby preventing re-filling, the stud 10 passing through a hole in the centre of this disc, which also serves to catch drips. An internal skirt 6 depends from the disc 5. Strengthening ribs 7 are provided on the gasket 3. To facilitate initial insertion of the stud 10 into the threaded hole in the valve member 8, a multi-start thread may be provided thereon, the flanges of the threads being tapered. The threaded aperture in the valve member 8 may also be flared as shown.
