Abstract

Locking nuts.-To render the screw-threads of nuts and bolts self-locking, the threads on the two members are of the same pitch and area in cross-section, but the apexes of one set of threads are displaced to one side of a line 7 perpendicular to the base of the threads. When the members are screwed together the apexes are constrained elastically to assume the contour 6 of the threads of the other member.
