Abstract

1,137,485. Yielding mine roof supports. HAYDEN-NILOS Ltd. 21 March, 1966 [22 March, 1965], No. 11965/65. Heading E1E. A yielding mine arch support for use with a mine arch of H-section 2 comprises a single stilt 1 of channel section with a pair of guide blocks 5 removably secured thereto to define with the channel a T-section space, see Fig. 2 (not shown), for guiding the inside flanges and the web of a leg of an arch, the guide blocks, as by means of bars 14, 15, providing a converging gap for an expendible yielding element 3 of tubular cross-section engaged with the web of the leg of the arch. The stilt may be reinforced by a strap or bracing welded thereto, see Figs. 4, 5 and 6 (not shown).
