Abstract

1,007,591. Mine arch supports. UNITED STEEL CO. Ltd. Dec. 28, 1961 [Dec. 28, 1960], No. 44465/60. Heading E1E. A yielding support for a mine arch 1 comprises a composite box-like structure consisting of two parts 7, 8 which are interconnected by lugs 8, 9 and provided with guides 6, see also Fig. 4 (not shown), for arch-retaining strips 3, 4. The arch 1 may bear on a channel strip 5 as shown and the block 11 of the guide 6 may be recessed to accommodate a nut instead of being tapped.
