[Also in Division A5] Racemic and optically active compounds of the general formula (wherein R<SP>1</SP> = Me or OMe and R<SP>2</SP> = H, Me or Et) and their salts are prepared by standard methods, e.g. by reducing the corresponding ketone. The preparation of 2,2 - diphenyl - 4 - hydroxy- 5 - acetylbenz - 1,3 - dioxolane; 2,2 - diphenyl- 4 - methoxy - 5 - acetylbenz - 1,3 - dioxolane; 2,2 - diphenyl - 4 - methoxy - 5 - bromoacetylbenz - 1,3 - dioxolane; 2,2 - diphenyl - 4 - methoxy - 5 - isopropylaminoacetylbenz - 1,3 - dioxolane hydrochloride; 1 - (2<SP>1 </SP>- methoxy - 3<SP>1</SP>,4<SP>1</SP>- dihydroxyphenyl) - 1 - oxo - 2 - isopropylaminoethane hydrochloride; 2 - methyl - 3,4 - dimethoxy - # - bromoacetophenone; 1 - (2<SP>1</SP> - methyl - 3<SP>1</SP>,4<SP>1</SP> - dimethoxyphenyl) - 1 - oxo - 2 - isopropylaminoethane hydrochloride and 1 - (2<SP>1 </SP>- methyl - 3<SP>1</SP>,4<SP>1</SP> - dihydroxyphenyl) - 1 - oxo - 2 - isopropylaminoethane and its hydrochloride and hydrobromide is described.
