1,136,515. Treating soil. HENKEL & CIE G.m.b.H. 7 July, 1967 [15 July, 1966], No. 31411/67. Heading C1B. Soil is treated successively in either order with aqueous phosphoric acid and an aqueous silica sol having a pH of 7À5-10 and containing less than 6% of SiO 2 . The sol may be stabilized by means of urea or a humate. 40-200 g/m.<SP>2</SP> of SiO 2 may be added to the soil. The treated soil may have a pH of 5-8. The sol may be produced by the action of formic, acetic, humic or phosphoric acid on alkali metal silicate having a SiO 2 /M 2 O ratio of 1-4À4 to 1.
