1,136,450. Solid solutions of quinacridones. E. I. DU PONT DE NEMOURS & CO. 16 Dec., 1966 [20 Dec., 1965], No. 56365/66. Heading C4P. Quinacridone solid solutions are prepared'by dissolving a mixture of quinacridone derivatives in concentrated sulphuric acid, precipitating the quinacridone derivatives in small particle size by introducing the solution into water under conditions which result in rapid dilution of the acid, and then heating the resultant acid slurry. The dilution step may be carried out by the slow addition of the acid solution to a large volume of water under vigorous agitation, but preferably the acid solution is introduced into water in a zone of extremely high turbulence, for example, through an orifice into the centre of a stream of water flowing under pressure through a constricted tube. The heating step is preferably carried out for about one hour at 75-90‹ C.
