Cupped articles.-Cartridge cases are made by securing together a sheet-metal tube and metal base, for example by welding. In the form shown in Fig. 1, the tubular part 2 of sheet steel tapers in diameter and thickness and fits over a flange 3 of the base-piece 1, a thin sheet of aluminium bronze 4 being interposed and the flange being formed with a ridge 5. The parts are then electrically welded by means of a roller electrode 7.
