Abstract

1,135,817. Dichlorohexadienes. UGINE KUHLMANN. 12 May, 1967 [13 May, 1966], No. 22252/67. Heading C2C. Dichlorohexadienes, e.g. and are obtained by reacting divinylglycol with at least a stoichiometric amount of HC1 in an anhydrous or aqueous medium in the presence of 0À05 to 10% by weight of divinylglycol of one or more soluble salts of one or more of the metals magnesium, aluminium, iron, zinc and copper. The divinylglycol may be obtained by the reduction of acrolein by a metal and, if desired, the crude reaction product may be used directly in the above reaction with the addition of further catalyst if required.
