Abstract

1,135,263. Radio receiving circuits; transistor amplifying circuits. TELEFUNKEN PATENTVERWERTUNGS G.m.b.H. 19 Jan., 1966 [3 Feb., 1965; 13 Oct., 1965], No. 2413/66. Headings H3Q and H3T. In an amplifying arrangement for use in a higher frequency band and a lower frequency band, the output electrode of an amplifying device is connected to tuned circuits for the higher frequency band via an open circuited quarter wave transmission line tuned to a frequency in the higher frequency band which attenuates in the lower frequency bands and is connected to one or more tuned circuits for the lower frequency band via a low-pass filter which attenuates in the high frequency band. As applied to a transistor R.F. amplifier in common base connection, the emitter of which is coupled by means of switch 7 to U.H.F. and V.H.F. input circuits 3, 4 respectively, the collector is coupled to a U.H.F. tuned circuit comprising quarter-wave line 21 and variable capacitor 26 by means of an open-circuited quarter wave transmission line 19. Line 19 is resonant at the upper end of the U.H.F. band. In addition the collector is coupled by means of a U.H.F. choke 12 to V.H.F. tuned circuit 13, 14. In a modification (Fig. 2, not shown), separate switched coils are provided for two V.H.F. bands, the lower end of each coil being earthed via a capacitor used to provide a tapped-down coupling point for the collector of the transistor. Alternatively the one coil may be in series with the other and provided with a short-circuiting switch (Fig. 3, not shown).
