Abstract

1,134,899. Rotary-piston I. C. engines. KARL SCHMIDT G.m.b.H. April 5, 1966 [May 8, 1965], No. 15097/66. Heading F1F. A piston 1 for a rotary-piston I. C. engine of the trochoidal n and n+1 lobe type is made of either aluminium or aluminium alloy and has a bearing portion 2 that is integral therewith and is furnished with an annular slot 4 and a pair of annular recesses 5 to minimize the flow of heat to the bearing surface, which engages with an eccentric on a poweroutput shaft (not shown). The bearing surface may have a tri-arcuate profile, as shown in Fig. 1.
