[Also in Division C3] Solutions or dispersions of compounds containing hydroxyalkylene or polyoxyalkylene groups may be stabilized by compounds of formulµ or salts thereof wherein R 1 is H or methyl, R 2 is H, C 1-9 alkyl or aryl or R 1 and R 2 are alkylene of 4 or 5 carbon atoms, R 3 and R 4 are H, or C 1-9 alkyl, R 5 is H or C 1-4 alkyl, R 6 is H, C 1-18 alkyl or C 2-6 alkyl substituted by 1-5 hydroxyl groups and n is 0-3. The stabilizer is added in an amount of 0À0-1% (based on the oxyalkylene compounds). The oxyalkylene compound to be stabilized may for example be adducts of alkylene oxides with active hydrogen-containing compounds such as alcohols, organic and inorganic acids or the esters and amides thereof, and phenols or naphthols alkylated in the nucleus, or they may be homo- or mixed polymerizates of alkylene oxides. The examples describe the stabilization of (i) stearic acid-1,4-butane diol ester polyglycollic ether; (ii) propylene oxide-ethylene oxide copolymer; and (iii) the reaction product of orthophosphoric acid, lauryl alcohol oxyethylate and polyglycol.
