Abstract
1,134,042. Ceramic stains; modified ceric oxide. ASSOCIATED LEAD MFRS. Ltd., and J. K. OLBY. 7 Dec., 1965 [27 Jan., 1965], No. 3636/65. Headings C1A and C1M. A ceramic stain consists of a calcined mixture of eerie oxide, 0 to 10% by weight of borax, and not more than 20% by weight of uranium oxide, the uranium oxide being present in solid solution in the eerie oxide. The preferred compositions, including an addition of borax, fall within the ranges 0À5-20% by weight of uranium oxide, 0-10% by weight of borax and 70-99À5% by weight of eerie oxide. In the production of the stain the mixture is calcined at from 1100‹ to 1600‹ C. for from 1 to 24 hours.
