Abstract

1,133,613. Tractor power lift mechanisms. MASSEY-FERGUSON S.A. 26 Oct., 1965 [27 Oct., 1964], No. 45201/65. Heading A1P. [Also in Division E2] A hitch between an implement or trailer and a tractor of the type having a pair of spaced draft links extending rearwardly from the tractor and under the control of a power lift by means of which the links may be raised and lowered, comprises a load-transmitting assembly including releasably-interconnected members 37 and 41 connected respectively to the implement or trailer and the tractor, and which are angularly movable relative to each other, the members including surfaces 16 and 18, respectively, which are freely movable relative to one another when no load is being transmitted, and are automatically inhibited against such movement on application of a load, the inhibition against movement being overcome, whereby the members are disconnected when the angle between them varies by a predetermined amount from the angle at which they are disposed when the load is applied. Surface 18 is formed on the inside of a housing 10 connected to the member 41. Rotatable within the housing 10 is a member 15 formed with the surface 16, and also with cam surfaces 24 and 25 which support pins 32 on a member 31 connected to the member 37. Member 15 is maintained with clearance within the housing 10 by a roller 19 mounted on a pin 20. When a load is applied to the member 37, pin 20 deforms allowing the surfaces 16 and 18 to frictionally engage one another. If the member 37 rotates with respect to the member 41 beyond a predetermined angle, the pins 32 ride off the cam surfaces 24, 25 to disconnect the members. The roller 19 may be deformable.
