1,133,264. Cutting light-weight concrete or other plastic material into blocks. FABRIEK VAN BOUWMATERIALEN " LOEVESTEIN " N.V. 19 July, 1966 [21 July, 1965], No. 32460/66. Heading B5A. A method of cutting a block of plastic material, e.g. a light-weight concrete, comprises cutting the block into a number of parts arranged in a row by one or more cutting wires, each of said wires acting along a vertical cutting plane, and then cutting the parts by one or more further wires along a second cutting plane or planes transverse the first plane or planes, the block parts of the first row being moved together before the second cutting operation. A block 4 is laid on cutting wires 3 extending normally to and supported by parallel supports 2 which are on transversely extending rollers 1. The wires 3 are then moved vertically to divide the block longitudinally into block parts (4a, 4b, 4c, 4d), Fig. 2, not shown, which parts are now moved together longitudinally of the bars 2 by clamps 6, 5, the clamp 5 then being removed by lifting. The block parts and the bars 2 are then moved past a plurality of vertical, parallel cutting wires 7 which pass between the bars 2 during this relative motion, the wires 7 seating in grooves 8 cut in the clamp 6 at the end of cutting. During this second cutting operation each block part is supported by the one on its left, the final part being so supported by the clamp 6. A top layer of the block 4 may be removed by a horizontal transverse wire (not shown) after the block parts (4a-4d) have been moved together by the clamps.
