997,973. Block cutting. DUROX FABRIEK VAN LICHTE BOUWPRODUCTEN N.V. Jan. 15, 1964 [Jan. 16, 1963 (2)], No. 1756/64. Heading B5A. A plastic mass, e.g. a block of lightweight concrete, is supported upon a plurality of spaced longitudinal bars 4, which lie freely upon transverse support members, and is cut by moving cutting wires, passing vertically between the bars, relative to, and through, the block. In the embodiment shown in Fig. 3 the block and bars are initially supported upon a pallet 1a, similar to the pallet 1 in Fig. 1, and are raised clear of said pallet by fingers 10 of a support 9, which is mounted by means of eccentrics 8 upon a vertically reciprocable table 7. The eccentrics 8 are then driven in a clockwise direction so that the block is moved through cutting frame 26, 27 in a motion shown in phantom lines at A. The bars and cut block are received by a second support 9, which is then lowered to place the block upon a pallet 1b which is removed from the machine along rollers 5. Pallet 1a is moved along the rollers to the discharge end of the machine, an uncut block on another pallet moved to the entry end, and the process repeated. In the embodiment in Fig. 4 (not shown) the bars and block are supported during the cutting by rollers, over which they are pushed through a cutting frame. In further embodiments, in which the block is stationary during cutting, the bars are supported and lifted clear of the pallet by transverse members which are either lowered (see Fig. 5, not shown) or pivoted (see Figs. 6, 7, 8, not shown), successively, out of the path of the advancing cutting frame.
