1,132,745. Finishing fabrics; elastic woven fabrics; yarns. SOCIETE RHOVYL. 31 May, 1966 [24 June, 1965; 22 Sept., 1965], No. 24266/66. Headings D1K, D1S and D1W. An elastic woven fabric is made by weaving a fabric using for the warp or weft or both an elastic yarn wrapped with textile fibres, e.g. continuous filaments or staple fibres, at least some of which are of polyvinyl chloride, the elastic yarn being held under tension during the weaving operation, and heating the fabric so obtained at a temperature at least as high as the softening temperature of the polyvinyl chloride fibres in the wrapping. Preferably, the core of the wrapped elastic yarn comprises continuous filaments of polyurethane. The wrapping fibres may all be of polyvinyl chloride or of polyvinyl chloride mixed with other fibres, e.g. wool. The fabric may be of plain or fancy weave. Heat treatment may be effected by a liquid aqueous medium or by hot air or steam and may be a separate operation or combined with another process carried out at a suitable temperature, e.g. desizing or dyeing. Examples are given.
