Abstract
1,132,563. Rotary-scythe mowers. P. J. W. VAN DEN MUNCKHOF. 13 March, 1967 [17 March, 1966], No. 11579/67. Heading A1F. In a rotary-scythe mower the blade or blades 4 have a thickness of ¢ mm or less and comprise either a ring or a series of arcuate strips which are sandwiched between upper and lower discs 1, 3 and held in position by pins 13 or studs 15 the cutting edges of the blades extending substantially in the direction of rotation of the disc. The strips, which may be serrated on their outer, cutting edge, may be placed end-to-end to form a continuous annular cutter, being held by through-pins 13 and by studs 15, integral with one of the discs, entering slots in their inner edges. Alternatively the strips may comprise spiral sections (Fig. 3, not shown) each subtending an angle of about 90 degrees at the centre of the discs. As shown, the discs 1, 3 are conical and are bolted together and to a rotor 5 by a central bolt 12, but the discs may also be flat.
