Abstract

1,132,359. Hatch covers. AUTOMOTIVE PRODUCTS CO. Ltd. 4 April, 1967 [5 April, 1966], No. 15116/66. Heading B7S. The sealing joint between adjacent panels 4, 5, 6 &c. of a hatch cover comprises a sealing member 36 extending along one transverse edge of each panel, a slot 38 extending lengthwise of the sealing member to receive a transverse flange member 39 of similar cross-section extending across the width of the facing edge of the adjacent panel. Conical projections 40 and complementary conical recesses 42 restrain adjacent panels from transverse displacement relative to one another. Resilient means such as springs or compression pads 43 of natural or synthetic rubber are also provided between adjacent panels. They are in alignment so that as the adjacent panels move together the springs or pads are compressed to create a load which will assist initial separation of adjacent panels when the panels are to be moved to the stowage position.
