Abstract

113,225. Davies, E. W. July 13, 1917. Addition to 15117/14. Rolling.-A modification of the apparatus for the automatic manipulation of ingots in rolling- mills described in the parent Specification comprises a lever e pivoted in a cross-head d actuated by a piston-rod d<1>. The lever is connected by links h, m to the clutching or turning member p, which co-operates with pivoted serrated members c on a cross-head b to turn the ingot q. In a modification, the links h, m are pivoted to the same point in the member p. In another form, the lever and links in the last form are replaced by a plate pivoted to the cross-head and member p. In the form shown in Fig. 8, the member p is specially shaped for turning the ingot through 180 degrees and the sides of the housing d are cut away at 4 for this purpose. In all forms, screws r limit the movement of the lever e &c.
