Abstract
1,132,191. Transistor switching circuits. COMPAGNIE FRANCAISE THOMSON HOUSTON HOTCHKISS BRANDT. 22 March, 1967 [22 March, 1966], No. 13509/67. Heading H3T. [Also in Division G3] In a D.C. voltage regulator of the type comprising a transistor 42 which is switched on and off by a circuit including transistors 40, 41 at a mark-space ratio determined by a control signal applied to the base of transistor 40 and dependent on the difference between the output voltage V2 and a reference voltage, the collector of transistor 41 is connected to a point 8 on a choke 50 of the low-pass filter 5 which point is chosen so that the power loss in the transistor 42 is reduced as compared with a known arrangement, Fig. 2 (not shown), in which the collector of transistor 41 is connected to the point 6. The point 8 is chosen to reduce the loss in transistor 42 while assuring a suitable saturation of it, the theoretical basis for this being discussed with reference to the reduction of the emitter-collector voltage of transistor 42 when the collector connection of transistor 41 is changed from point 6 to 8, Figs. 3 and 5 (not shown).
