Abstract

1,131,513. Scavenging vessels. MITSUBISHI JUKOGYO K.K. 10 May, 1966 [9 April, 1966], No. 20748/66. Heading B7A. In a surface sweeping ship built with side pontoons 1a, 1b which provide in its middle portion in end view a longitudinal hollow space permitting water to flow therethrough, having in said space a conveyer belt 9 inclined forward upwardly with its upper end above and its lower end below the water surface WL and so driven that its lower running side moves sternwards, means 13 are provided for scraping and collecting material adhering to the belt above the water surface and a net 16 arranged behind the belt for collecting floating or suspended dirt or dust. Oily material scraped and collected from the belt is led into tanks 6 in the pontoons. Raking blades 19 positioned at the sides of the pontoons may be swung out to form an angle during sweeping operations.
