Abstract

1435343 Scavenging vessel SANDCO Ltd 24 Aug 1973 40289/73 Heading B7A A scavenging vessel 1 to collect oil from a water surface has at least one tank 3 and, mounted centrally as seen in side view, at least one conveyer 2 comprising a plain endless band which dips into the water and discharges oil into the tank or tanks. The conveyer is vertical and is reversibly driven so as to enable oil to be skimmed when the vessel is driven in opposite directions. The vessel may also be a catamaran and may also have obliquely disposed perforated conveyers 4 placed fore and aft of the vertical conveyer, Fig. 3 (not shown), to collect litter from the water.
