Abstract

1441006 Scavenging vessel MITSUI SHIPBUILDING & ENG CO Ltd 19 Oct 1973 [21 Oct 1972] 48829/73 Headings B7A and B7V A scavenging vessel has a collecting port 12 for receiving a flow of surface water relative to, and through, the vessel produced by movement of the vessel through the water. Scoop net 2, mounted on the vessel inwardly of the collecting port, is pivotable between a collecting position in the flow path and an emptying position it which it is pivoted out of the path of the flow through the collecting port. Material collected in the scoop is emptied into a container 4 in the vessel and barrier net 3 is lowered to prevent passage of extraneous material through the vessel when the scoop is being emptied. The vessel shown has twin hulls 1, la and propeller 8 can be rotated through 360 degrees about its vertical axis.
