Abstract

113,128. Gaunt, B. A. Feb. 3, 1917. Pin and like wrenches; retaining in engagement. -Conical pin wrenches for screwing and unscrewing fuses or other purposes, are provided with (1) the engaging pin on a block sliding in an oblique groove in the conical face or socket of'the wrench, or (2) with an inclined slot or slots which engage pins also engaging holes in the fuse, or engage projections on the fuse. As shown in Figs. 1, 3 and 6 (first Provisional Specification) the. pin i which engages the hole in the nose of the fuse is on a block f arranged to slide in an oblique groove d in the face of the socket b of the wrench. The block may be attached to the wrench by a screw k and chain j. On turning the wrench under pressure the block f tends to slide up the groove and consequently to force the conical socket down into engagement with the fuse. A wrench with a groove inclined in the opposite direction may be provided for unscrewing the fuses. As shown in Figs. 1 and 3 (second Provisional Specification) one or more inclined slots d are formed in the conical socket a of the wrench, for engaging a pin or pins e inserted through them into holes in the conical part c of the fuse. Preferably two diametrically opposite pairs of slots d are provided for use with two pins e for turning the fuse in either direction.
